What happens when two teens from very different worlds fall in love?
Rain is a teen girl who loves skateboarding, punk rock music, and not fitting into the norm. One day, while she is skateboarding, she crashes into an Amish buggy. A teen, Eli, helps her up and out of the road. There is instant attraction and chemistry between them. They learn that even though they are from two very different worlds they both feel like outsiders.
What starts out as a friendship quickly turns into romance. They begin to write to each other and meet in secret. Rain’s mother Saturn goes to the Amish market to sell her goods even though she is not Amish causing a stir. Saturn clashes with Eli’s parents long before either are aware of the budding romance between their teens. As time goes on Rain and Eli fall in love. Will their love tear them and their families apart or will time prove true love always finds a way?

Buggin is a coming-of-age story and a love story. It shows how two people can find similarities from different cultural backgrounds. The story explores challenges teens face within themselves and their households. And even though it may take overcoming obstacles and years apart, true love will find a way.
This is a story with some serious themes but always with a sense of lightheartedness and tenderheartedness. Defining who we are and what we stand for is a life-long journey. One that usually is windy road. This story highlights that even though we may feel very different from one another we are also all humans. The search for hope, for connection, and for love is universal, even punk rock.
